The Centre for Training & Employment of Punjab Youth (C-PYTE) was formally inaugurated in August 1990 at Village Lopoke, by the then Prime Minister, Shri VP Singh during peak militancy in Punjab. It is registered as a Society under the Societies Act (XXI OF 1860), as amended by Punjab Amendment Act 1957. C-PYTE has its own Bye Laws, which are based on the rules and regulations, as applicable to employees of the Punjab Govt. It is fully funded by Grants and Aids as budgeted by the Punjab Govt from time to time. It functions under the Ministry of Employment Generation and Training, Govt of Punjab. Headquarter C-PYTE is located at Sector 42-A, Chandigarh and has 14 Camps in different Districts of Punjab. C-PYTE activities are closely coordinated with the Punjab Skill Development Mission and the District Employment Officer in each district. One New C-PYTE Camp is under construction at Asal Uttar (TarnTaran). New Camp are also proposed to be constructed at Borewal (Mansa) and Kheri” (Sangrur). Upgradation of Nine Camps is also planned alongwith modernization of all 14 Camps. C-PYTE is also preparing to conduct specialised training in Drones, Security Guards, Armed Security and Excavator Courses jointly with PSDM.
