Training

C-PYTE organizes training of Punjab Youth for absorption into the Armed Forces, Central Armed Para Military Forces (CAPF) and Punjab Police (PP). In addition, training is also imparted for employment as Security Guard and in other vocations, as required. The schedule of training for the Armed Forces is based on the recruitment programme issued annually by the Army Recruiting Organization (ARO Ludhiana, Patiala, Ferozepur, Amritsar and Jalandhar), while the training for CAPF and Punjab Police is as per recruitment vacancies promulgated by the Service Selection Commission (SSC).

Prior to the training per se, a Screening Test is conducted, which includes physical and written test and medical checkup. Thereafter, the boys are given 12 weeks pre-recruitment training as per a well planned syllabus/training programme. Initially 08 week education classes are conducted to prepare youth for the Common Entrance Exam. Subsequently qualified youth are trained for another 04 weeks for the physical and medical tests. Leadership and character development capsules are also conducted alongwith briefings by Army Recruitment officers and visits to Army Units.

Selection Criteria

Selection of youth for the Camps is based on the criteria promulgated for recruitment by different organisations. The guidelines regarding academic qualification, physical standard and age factor to be kept in mind while selecting youth for the Training Camps, are given in the succeeding sub paras.

Educational Qualifications

As per requirement of the host organization for whose recruitment the youth are being given pre-training. In addition, youth who are minimum matriculate or middle pass and willing to work in the Industrial Houses with suitable certificate of proficiency in skill/trade are selected.

Age

(i) 17 ½ -20 ½ years for matriculates.

(ii) 18-25 years for those possessing higher qualifications and Diploma's from ITI's in Technical Trades.

Pre-selection/Coaching for Joining the Defence Forces & Para Military Forces

The Defence & Para Military Forces have introduced the following entrance test for the candidates aspiring to join their respective organisations :-

Physical Performance Test

Army – Race 1600 Mtrs, Chin Up 10, Nine Feet Ditch and Zig-Zag.

PMF – Race 5 Km-24 Mins, 15 Feet Broad Jump and 4 Feet High Jump.

Written Test covering General Knowledge, Current Affairs, Mathematics and Science subjects.

Basic Training in Camps

Training in the Camp includes physical fitness, drill, sports and academics including general awareness. In addition, emphasis is laid on development of work culture and dignity of labour. Vocational guidance and motivational training is through lectures by experts. Special cadres in self employment and entrepreneurship development are also conducted along with motivational and anti drug abuse talks. Counseling by trained counselors, character building and motivational visits are also planned.

Punjab Youth are provided with free boarding, lodging and no cost training at the Camps during their stay for the training period.
